The
Center collects and exchanges information pertaining to domestic
and international architects, architectural works, architectural
literature, architectural events, materials and resources, and international
matters. It also documents architectural achievement.
1961
- KIA News, the first journal of the KIA published. 1963 - KIA News was renamed to
The Architect, a bimonthly magazine 1990 - The Architect published
monthly, offering articles on architects, architects
works, urban and architecture, as well as critics, architectural
education,
architectural new, and KIA news. 2000 - The Architect, switched
from 'printed on paper' to an 'electronic magazine' on
KIA Website. 2004 - The Architect, published bimonthly with Electronic version on the website simultaneously.
Research
on architectural system and policy
KIA
also offers professional services for architecture and urban planning,
planning and supervision of international design competitions, and
planning and production of architectural exhibitions.
Union
of International Architects(UIA) & Korean Institute of Architects(KIA)
UIA, a non-governmental organization of architects worldwide, was
founded in July 26th, 1948 in Lausanne, Switzerland, It is affiliated
with UNESCO, The KIA has been an active member since it first joined
the UIA to represent Korea in 1963. KIA gained international recognition
when it was first nominated as a director country for two consecutive
terms from 1975 to 1981. KIA was again nominated to the same position
for the second time in Barcelona Assembly in 1996 and continues to
serve the UIA actively.
International
Activities
- Attend UIA general Assemble and Conventions.
- Coordinate a series of lectures featuring prominent foreign
architects.
- Sponsor international architecture exhibits.
- Organize international seminars.
- Responsible for the Korean installation for Venices Biennale
architecture exhibition.
- Coordinate programs for architectural survey tour abroad.
